Yields 2 servings of Smashburger with Green Beans & Mac Sauce
The Preparation
Smash Burger
- 16 ounce ground beef, 85/15
- salt and pepper, to taste
Green Bean “Fries”
- 8 ounce fresh green beans, washed & dried
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- salt and pepper, to taste
Mac Sauce
- 3 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon reduced sugar ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon dill relish
The Execution
1. Gather and prep all ingredients. Trim green beans if preferred. To make the sauce, mix together the mayo, ketchup, mustard, and relish.
2. Season the beef with salt and pepper to taste and very roughly mix together. Divide the beef into 2 patties per serving, forming into balls. Set aside.
Optionally, you can spread yellow mustard around the meatballs to form an even crunchier crust.
3. Heat a pan on high heat. Once the pan is very hot, place the balls of meat into the pan. As you place each ball into the pan, use a spatula to smash the patties down until 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Repeat with the balls without overcrowding the pan. If needed, cook in batches.
4. Fry for about 3 minutes on each side, or until there is a dark brown crust achieved. Wrap in foil and set aside.
5. In the same pan, add olive oil and green beans. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Fry until beans are cooked through but still crunchy.
6. Serve the patties with a side of mac sauce and green bean “fries”. Enjoy!
